Hand tooled leather

I had the idea to make a leather belt buckle many years ago, and finally made some time over this past winter to research and get into the studio with this new art form of “hand tooled leather”.

As soon as I began experimenting with tools and leather, I was instantly hooked!
Leather tooling by hand is a very slow and intense process, but I love the result!

I am using a dye application called “antiquing” which highlights the pattern on tooled leather.

I have also incorporated “Chicago screw back” conchos in various colours and shapes, individually picked to compliment the colour and pattern of my belt.

The belt buckle leather faces are original hand drawn designs, cut, tooled & dyed by hand. The tooled leather face is mounted on a quality metal back.

The matching belt keeper is hand cut, tooled & dyed.

All the pieces are waxed and polished with a  protective finish.

Durable & secure “Line 20” snaps keep the buckle secure and can be changed easily without tools.

Selected belt buckles are also sold separately.
