I was thinking about what to write for my first 2018 post, and started reflecting on last year’s goals and how they had changed my life.
Last year’s goals were to:
• stop listening to the news
• think positively instead of letting negative thoughts pop into my head
• surround myself with positive people
• keep my everyday life as stress free as possible
• don’t let the small things upset me
In reflecting how those changes made me feel, turned out to be quite profound! I was so much happier it was quite unbelievable.
So for 2018 I have decided to keep up with last year’s resolutions and add a few more.
Just this month I found myself getting filled up with stress and anxiety, feeling like I have so much to do and seemingly so slow going, until I started reflecting on my achievements to date.
I began to realize that I had already gotten tons of things done! I had made the big switch to a new.com domain name for my blog, which was no small feat as non of the links made the transfer over, and cleaned up the look of my gallery pages. I started making more of my pine needle baskets in getting ready for the farmers market season, and “de-cluttering” my office and storage spaces.
As soon as I had come to these realizations, my stress and anxiety to get more things done instantly decreased, and I found that I could actually focus on tasks at hand much better!
Then I realized that this was going to be #1 resolution for 2018: “daily reflection”.
It’s such a big one for me, as stress gets the better of me, when I don’t keep things in check.
#2 on the list:
don’t sweat the little things.
Holly Butcher couldn’t have written it any better, so I will let you read her letter for inspiration:
We all have one life to live, let’s all make the most of it!
Bring on 2018, it’s gonna be better than ever!
