Original hand drawn led gourd lamps.
Locally grown gourds are used in the making of my lamps. It takes almost a year to get a gourd ready for art! It is harvested, dried, cleaned and cured.
It is a slow process of then hollowing out the gourd and cleaning the insides.
I leave the gourd on my kitchen table, where the design allows itself to manifest.
When a design “comes to the surface”, I draw the design on with pencil.
Once satisfied with the design it is then burned into the surface using a wood burning tool.
This process takes about a day.
The following day I add colour using acrylic paint.
On the final day, I drill the holes, clean the dust then lightly spray on a water based varathayne.
