This year has been a particularly bad one for mice due to last year’s mild winter and an unusual amount of rain.
Mice have been seeking refuge under our house and in our vehicles.
Even leaving the hood open on our trucks didn’t keep them out. I read that fabric softener sheets are a good mouse deterrent because of the smell, so as a quick fix I bought some and stuffed a couple under the hood and near the air filter.
The following week, yeah! no mice but I was feeling like I was going to puke after driving in the car. Yesterday I had to pull over because I thought I was going to toss my cookies after less than 5 minutes in the car and the feeling lasted all afternoon.
This morning I went to get my house keys to lock up before we went for our morning hike.
After about 10 minutes I felt pukey again and realized the fabric softener box was in the cupboard where I kept my keys.
So when we got back from our walk, I put on the mask and rubber gloves I use for my soap making and took out the sheets from the car and the box from the cupboard and put them in a plastic bag and tossed them into the garbage bin.
Then I looked up “sickness from fabric softener sheets” on the internet and found a bunch of articles that I’d like to share…
